Judge Barrett seems an intelligent and admirable individual. But my column argues that her judicial philosophy has been on the wrong side of history on many of the big issues of my lifetime, from racism to LGBT bigotry....
One of my old friends told me recently that she couldn’t stomach Trump but is strongly “pro-life” and concerned about Joe Biden for that reason. I made the point that if the aim is to reduce the number of abortions, the best way to accomplish that is to provide Title X reproductive health programs that offer free family planning for at-risk young people, reducing unplanned pregnancies. Trump has cut funding for such clinics; Biden would bolster the funding. It sounds as if she will vote for Biden.
