Tears for Fears - Sowing the Seeds of Love
Note that the graph (from here) is in tonnes per hectare. That is - these are the increased amounts of food we can get from one fixed area of land.
Did you know that? Did you know that food production per acre had gone up so dramatically?
Now ask yourself: if crop yields were to drop, say, to what they were in 2019, would you hear about that?
Of course. The Doomers would be screaming it from the rooftop.
We have made incredible progress against starvation and hunger.
We have much more to do, and have lost ground against malnutrition in the past few years. But not because climate change is destroying agriculture. Rather, it is because of conflicts and lack of progress with Africa's staple crops.
It isn't because of "chemicals." There hasn't been a single moment in my 56 years that there weren't mobs screaming about "chemicals." These people are objectively pro-starvation - and that isn't hyperbole. Billions of people are alive and thriving today because the world didn't listen.
We can do more and we can do better. But we have to start with facts, not lies and the defeatest Dogma of Doom.
