It is all relative....

Following this post, I received several messages along the lines of "your are well loved." I appreciate these kind words more than you can ever know.

On the other hand, you could peruse the comments on this video.

I'm not saying you should look at those comments -- you definitely should not. I'm just pointing out that love and support are relatively rare.

Desire for power and fame, ideological rigidity, and simple ego promotion and protection are what motivate many, if not most, people. Even now, I've seen people basically celebrate my termination. Some were happy because I thought I was "golden," when all I have been doing is trying to be as helpful as possible in reducing suffering -- and be friends with everyone truly trying to do the same.

Of course, none of this needs to be depressing.
