About the author

I am the author, co-author, secondary-author, ghost-author, and non-author of articles, speeches, book chapters, and even entire books! The most recent can be found at LosingMyReligions.net. Currently, I am President of One Step for Animals; previously, I was shitcanned from so many nonprofits that we can’t list them all here. Before my unfortunate encounter with activism, I was an aerospace engineer who wanted to work for NASA (to impress Carl Sagan). My hobbies include photography, almost dying, and {REDACTED}. I live in Tucson with my soulmate and reluctant editor Anne, along with the occasional snake and scorpion.

Book Recommendations

Presumed Innocent, from back in the day. The movie is good but the book is better. Read the book first (assuming you've not seen the movie already). The only one I read read (others I listened to). Obviously, try to avoid seeing anything with spoilers (same for the next one, too).

Defending Jacob. Anne and I listened to this together while driving. We did not what the punch line was going to be and we were shocked. The Apple TV miniseries changes the ending. BOO! It is fine but the book is way better.

Specimen Days. More "literary" than the other two. Basically three novellas with a relatively minor theme tying them together. I wasn't sure about it to begin with (was listening to on my own), but when I got to the end of the first part, I knew we had to listen to it together. Really great writing.

I'll note that both of my books (1, 2) have higher Good Reads ratings than all three of these! Feel free to contact me for the movie rights. 😂
