What is corrupting higher education?

Yes - "I've Seen All Good People"

The persecuted glibertarians.

As I've mentioned, I try to read some center-right writers. These tend to be white male glibertarians, and one of their hobbyhorses is to complain that "wokeness" / political correctness is stifling any dissenting voices. They claim that loads of their colleagues completely support their position (anti-feminist, anti-affirmative-action, anti-minimum-wage, etc. etc. etc.) but are simply too scared to publicly agree with the glibertarian's totally-correct and super-duper-100%correct opinions.

Because, of course, all these tenured white guys are suffering so much for their brave contrarian positions.

Of course, there isn't some commie conspiracy enforcing right thought on college campuses.

What is influencing colleges is corporate money. No need to claim unnamed co-conspirators - just a little bit of digging reveals this. When I was in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon in the mid-90s, the Electric Power Research Institute - EPRI - funded a lot of climate change research.

OK, so yeah, they did have an interest in wanting the world to "electrify everything." But that is nothing compared to how other industries have bought their way onto campuses.

The Guardian has a good piece with just one example: Exxon in the classroom: how big oil money influences US universities

But yeah, go on again as to how the biggest problem we face is wanting everyone to have basic liberties, rather than just straight, white, land-owning men.

If you found this useful, please share it. Thanks so much!
