Depeche Mode - "Personal Jesus"
I used to think that the best financial plan was as simple as possible - two credit cards, always paid off (that one is true), pay down debt as quickly as possible.
Au contraire.
We have credit cards that pay 6% back on groceries & streaming, 5% on gas and Amazon, 3% on restaurants.
More than that, from last year until the end of 2023, we'll have taken thousands of dollars worth of free flights through Southwest's rewards program. (We got in on a limited-time special 100k sign-up bonus.)
But that is amateur hour.
The headline of this article gives you a taste of this crazy subculture: "How to get 57 free nights of vacation from a single credit card." (Another example.)
This community is super-helpful - it isn't zero-sum and it isn't a competition. I don't think I've even scratched the surface of what's out there. If you have the time and inclination, Travel Freely is a nice place to start. The Points Guy might be the most famous. But there's lots more! 🤯
