I've been using this weighted jump rope lately, and it is quite the workout. With the speed rope, I can never do one jump to exhaustion -- I always miss first. But if I get on a good run with the weighted one, my whole body gets tired such that I slow down and then miss.
I've been using it to do high intensity interval training.
Funny story: in first grade, I was so gangly that I couldn't jump rope at all. (I grew very fast -- I was taller than my second grade teacher.) The gym teacher, Mrs. Metzger, told me that one day I would be a great jump-roper.
After my freshman year of high school, I went to a five-star basketball camp, where I played against Jeff Lebo. Turns out I was one of the top five jump-ropers of all the kids!
MattBall.org is the site for, you guessed it, Matt Ball. Damn, you are as smart as you are good-looking!

About the author
I am the author, co-author, secondary-author, ghost-author, and non-author of articles, speeches, book chapters, and even entire books! The most recent can be found at LosingMyReligions.net. Currently, I am President of One Step for Animals; previously, I was shitcanned from so many nonprofits that we can’t list them all here. Before my unfortunate encounter with activism, I was an aerospace engineer who wanted to work for NASA (to impress Carl Sagan).
My hobbies include photography, almost dying, and {REDACTED}. I live in Tucson with my soulmate and reluctant editor Anne, along with the occasional snake and scorpion.
