Computational Photography

When I was an undergrad, I was photo editor for the Yearbook, and a photographer (and writer) for the school paper. Thus, when I met Anne, I had a bag full of film cameras and lenses.

I've gone through several digital cameras since then. But like this author, our next trip will be the first time I don't take a camera. (I'm still not used to not being able to hold the phone to my eye.) For more, see the Camera section here.

A few phone pics:

Kobe, eating a healthier dinner than I did.

Ocotillo flowers, using the phone's "magic eraser" feature to remove extraneous branches.

Ah, a nice evening by the fire.

I don't think any of my cameras could have gotten this unretouched shot.

Above, before "magic eraser" - below, voila!

Able to zoom in enough to recognize this is a Russian-built cargo plane. My big camera wouldn't have done a lot better.
