About the author

I am the author, co-author, secondary-author, ghost-author, and non-author of articles, speeches, book chapters, and even entire books! The most recent can be found at LosingMyReligions.net. Currently, I am President of One Step for Animals; previously, I was shitcanned from so many nonprofits that we can’t list them all here. Before my unfortunate encounter with activism, I was an aerospace engineer who wanted to work for NASA (to impress Carl Sagan). My hobbies include photography, almost dying, and {REDACTED}. I live in Tucson with my soulmate and reluctant editor Anne, along with the occasional snake and scorpion.

Ellen the Stalwart

Lifelong vegan Ellen currently has a 3.9 GPA in Molecular Biology (with an emphasis on Public Policy) at Pomona College (Forbes' #1 school in the entire US, ahead of Harvard and Stanford). Ellen's been accepted to grad school everywhere applied, including MIT. [Update - Ellen got an even more prestigious Fellowship in DC.]

Running a 5:20 metric mile.

Since the Pomona's founding in 1887, Ellen is only the 13th person on the women's teams to letter in both cross country and track all four years (also earned eight varsity letters in high school). Not surprisingly, Ellen made the league's All-Academic Team as well.

Still in running shoes at 7th grade honors.

At Senior Appreciation this past weekend, the word the coach used to describe Ellen was "stalwart" - loyal, reliable, and hardworking. Couldn't have put it better myself.
