Loss and Appreciation

Another death in our circle here; a gentle, generous soul. 2014 has been relentless in revealing the callousness of nature and the petty brutality of people.

I have known so many good people who have been defeated by the negativity of the world. It can be so easy, when you have good friends, a good job, and security, to judge or even condemn those who don't live up to our standards. But I still believe the world is a better place when do our best to treat everyone with, if not kindness, then at least respect. And even more important, I think, is to appreciate the relative handful of truly special people we are able to know in our short time.
