A more recent discussion is in Shelly Kagan's 'Do I make a difference?' from 2011. He discusses a case of buying chicken at the supermarket and I think he makes basically the same points with regards to vegetarianism. I found it to be very helpful.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03228638557935865349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5593026103512648416.post-73780405033572781032015-10-01T16:05:46.060-07:002015-10-01T16:05:46.060-07:00Do people really use this excuse? Let's see: I'm happy to buy clothes made by 6 year olds in China because one T-shirt doesn't make a difference. I don't bother voting because my one voice won't change anything. I never recycle because some big companies pollute way more than me. I would have no problem buying black market body parts because it's only wrong if you buy an entire dead person. I often say mildly racist/sexist/homophobic things because these people regularly hear even worse things so it can't affect them. Eh, no!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14776802936450302217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5593026103512648416.post-25989155630448336662015-09-30T20:56:58.117-07:002015-09-30T20:56:58.117-07:00"Meat" is born into this world and has a..."Meat" is born into this world and has a heartbeat, a mother and a will to live as great as any person. When we take that "meat" off the supermarket shelf we have perpetuated mass cruelty and murderVGN4THMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09974259257380351144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5593026103512648416.post-5899835182583443292015-09-30T20:46:58.800-07:002015-09-30T20:46:58.800-07:00In a world of nearly 7 billion people one could ar...In a world of nearly 7 billion people one could argue that killing a few people is inconsequential. I don't murder people because I believe it is morally wrong. I don't eat animals because I believe it is murder, therefore morally wrong.
